WELCOME TO THE ARMY OF TENNESSEE CORPS HOSPITAL

We are a Civil War Confederate Medical Corps Hospital dedicated to interpreting to the public Civil War Medicine.

The Army of Tennessee was formed in November, 1862 when the original Army of Mississippi was renamed. Its first battle under this name was the Battle of Stone's River fought on December 31, 1862. Addditional major battles in which the Corps Hospital served were: Chickamauga Campaign, Atlanta Campaign, Franklin-Nashville Campaign, and the Carolinas Campaign. The Army of Tennessee surendered on April 26, 1865 at Bennett Place near Durhan Station, North Carolina.

Decreasing strength of the Army: Atlanta 40,000 troops, Post-Nashville 10,000 troops, entering North Carolina 4,500 troops. The army was organized into three infantry corps plus a fourth corps which was Nathan Bedford Forrest's Cavalry Corps.
